Ancient Faith,
Contemporary Journey

A Community of Jesus-followers intentionally joining together on the journey of grace.

Sundays at 10:30am

History

A small group of Jesus’ disciples who had been partnering together in ministry for years began to meet in the Engel’s family room in late 2008 for fellowship, prayer and mutual encouragement. In early 2009, out of their prayer, a common vision for a Kingdom-focused church arose.

The name “Gateway” was chosen to reflect three key emphases of Kingdom-ministry:

  • Gateway will contend through worship and intercession for an open heaven over Canton and the Northeastern Ohio region. (Genesis 28:10-17)
  • Gateway will proclaim the good news that Jesus is the Door (Gate) that leads a person into eternal life (John 10:7-9) and that a kingdom life in relationship with Jesus, who is the Way (John 14:6), is a transformational journey. (Romans 8:28-29; 2 Corinthians 3:17-18)
  • Gateway will function as an apostolic community (Acts 11:19-26; 13:1-3) that sends laborers to impact the nations. (Matthew 28:18-20)

In July 2009, they began to share this vision with a number of close friends and associates. Sensing a clear leading of the Lord to move forward, Gateway Church was planted with its first public gathering for worship on Sunday, August 2nd.

Gateway Church met in four different rented locations in the greater Canton area in the first three years before moving into its current facility in Greentown, Ohio in Mid-October 2012.

In April, 2015 Gateway fully aligned with the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes of the Anglican Church of North America.   We are a community of Jesus-followers intentionally joining together in an ancient, historic faith that is being lived out in a contemporary journey that is evangelistic, apostolic, sacramental, and Spirit-filled.
